On NXT this week Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler defended the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles against the winners of the Dusty Cup tournament, Dakota Kai and Raquel González.
Baszler and Kai started the match, renewing their rivalry from the past. The Queen of Spades tried the same maneuver she used to break Kai’s arm years ago, but Kai fought back and slapped Baszler before managing to make the tag.
Later in the match González and Jax square off with such intensity that the referee is caught in the cross fire and taken out with a big boot from González. Jax then drags her to the outside and both powerhouses end up going over the announce table.
Inside the ring Baszler locks the Kirifuda Clutch on Kai, but González was still the legal competitor. WWE official Adam Pearce appeared on the ramp and waved in a referee from Raw who called for the bell and awarded the match to Baszler and Jax via submission.
Later in the show William Regal was shown arguing with Pearce backstage about his involvement in the match and shortly after McKenzie Mitchell approached Regal who said that he had an announcement to make on next week’s show that will ‘change the landscape of the NXT brand forever.’
With an NXT Championship match already announced for next week’s show, it’s shaping up to be one not to be missed!
