WWE Planned Tyson Fury Vs Drew McIntyre On UK PPV: Could It Still Happen?

'The Gypsy King' Tyson Fury

According to a new report, it seems that WWE were set to pull the trigger on a pay-per-view in the United Kingdom, and it would be headlined by Tyson Fury taking on Drew McIntyre.

Whether this was part of the reason the Scottish star won the WWE Championship at WrestleMania is unclear, although the report by Inside The Ropes claims they’ve heard from multiple sources that a title match between the two was set to headline a UK show.

McIntyre was also quoted by TalkSport earlier this year that ‘things were looking positive’ for something special:

This situation has affected a lot of plans, let’s just say things were looking positive and when things are looking a little bit more normal, I’ll be pushing once again because, we’re on the right path and it’s not a case of if it will happen, it’s when it will happen. We’ve just got to roll with the punches right now and eventually we will get that UK PPV we deserve.

Whilst a lot of this will depend on the Coronavirus regulations changing to allow an audience, The Gypsy King’s schedule will also play a part.

Fury is set to try and tie up his trilogy with Deontay Wilder at some point, however they are likely waiting for a world where the fight can make the money it deserves.

Given the ongoing Twitter battle between Fury and McIntyre, both men would likely do what they could to make the schedule work for a match of the magnitude they are no doubt aiming for.
