After a 16 month wait, WWE will finally welcome a full crowd back to an arena for their Money In The Bank PPV on Sunday 18th July.
On this week’s episode of Raw, the card started to take shape with a number of matches confirmed for the events and the titular Money In The Bank matches having their first qualifiers confirmed.
In the men’s match, three of the eight qualifiers are in place with Ricochet, Riddle and John Morrison winning qualifying matches. Ricochet confirmed his win with an exciting victory over AJ Styles and Morrison qualified with a surprising win over Randy Orton after The Viper was distracted by the comedy antics of The Miz and Riddle who conducted a wheelchair/scooter chase around the ring. Because of course they did.
In the most surprising result of the night, Riddle qualified with a clean win over former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre. The Scotsman notably wrestled the night after his brutal Hell In A Cell loss to Bobby Lashley with gives him some mitigation but it was still a landmark win for The Original Bro.
On the women’s side, WWE opted for a tag team qualifier format with Asuka, Naomi, Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross taking their place in the ladder match. Bliss and Cross (Who sported a new superhero gimmick and outfit) defeated Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler with an assist from Bliss’s supernatural nonsense. Asuka and Naomi were victorious over Eva Marie and the newly christened Doudrop after the former Piper Niven hopped off the apron and left her tag team partner to take the loss.
In addition to these eight qualifiers, a triple threat match was announced last week between the losing male contenders to secure the fifth spot in the match. Randy Orton, AJ Styles and Drew McIntyre will do battle in what promises to be a barn burner of a triple threat match.
