Following this week’s draft edition of WWE SmackDown and next week’s Raw, both shows will be facing a new era with new rosters and based on the matches announced for next week’s show, SmackDown intends to begin that new era with a bang.
The show is being promoted as the ‘season premiere’ of SmackDown and itt was announced that Roman Reigns will defend his Universal Title against his old rival Braun Strowman in the main event of the show. Reigns was confirmed this week as a SmackDown superstar going forward but Strowman could well be a Raw superstar by the time this match comes along.
Two men that will be Raw superstars by then are the new SmackDown Tag Team Champions, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston. The two returning members of The New Day will be side by side with their long-time partner Big E for the last time for the foreseeable future in their official ‘SmackDown farewell match’ where the trio will team up against Shinsuke Nakamura, Cesaro and Sheamus.
The show will also likely see the SmackDown debut of Seth Rollins, Bianca Belair, Dominik Mysterio and a number of other superstars coming over from Raw in the draft.
