Speaking on WWE Chronicle, WWE superstar Bianca Belair has opened up on her struggles with BED (Binge Eating Disorder) and depression prior to her time in WWE.
“I was always considered the biggest girl in track and I was running fast and then I just kind of plateaued. The next thing I could think of was, okay, all of my coaches talk about my weight, let me lose weight. I got so obsessed so I started throwing my food up… I lost weight, I ran faster”
The SmackDown star suffered from depression after abruptly stopping her medication. As a result, she ended up in a psychiatric hospital. It was WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry who spotted Belair’s athletic potential and invited her to the WWE Performance Center. The rest, as they say, is history.
Belair wishes to be a role model for young children and a positive representative for her community. Therefore, sharing her backstory will help her be seen as more relatable. As well as offering a positive example for people struggling with similar issues.
Belair will take part in this week’s women’s Royal Rumble match and begins the match as one of the favourites to win the bout and secure a marquee title match at WrestleMania 37.
