Riddle, the former WWE United States Champion, has spoken out about his relationship with Vince McMahon, saying he will not “force” a hug from the WWE CEO.
Riddle has been dominating on Monday Night RAW, holding the RAW Tag Team Title, and gaining a lot of television time alongside Randy Orton. Riddle has shone not only because of his entertaining personality but also because he has had many critically acclaimed matches since leaving NXT, particularly with the tough Irishman, Sheamus.
In an interview on the Out of Character podcast, Riddle discussed his relationship with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon:
“The thing is I’ve been on TV a lot. I work a lot, you know. Vince sees me every week at least once. I got I’ve got a lot of handshakes – good job, I love your stuff, this, that, a lot of compliments. I have yet to receive a Vincent McMahon hug, you know. I was hoping I’d get one after SummerSlam, but not so much. And I don’t wanna force it. I’m not forcing it. You hug me when you’re ready, bro.“
SummerSlam saw Riddle capture the RAW Tag Team Championship for the first time against dominant champions AJ Styles and Omos. The duo went on to successfully defend their crown against Bobby Lashley and MVP. Styles gained a measure of revenge on Riddle recently on RAW as he defeated the Original Bro in one-on-one action.
