It appears Sting’s polarising spell on WWE’s payroll has come to an end.
According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, the Stinger’s deal with Vince McMahon’s company is finished, which was subsequently followed by ‘The Icon’ being nixed from an upcoming action figure line and Sting himself hinting online at a future appearance for All Elite Wrestling.
Later, several sources told PWInsider (£) that nothing was planned for AEW at this time, despite speculation that he could appear to present the TNT Television Championship to the inaugural champion when Cody meets Lance Archer at Double or Nothing.
Meanwhile, Sting’s longtime on-screen nemesis Ric Flair appears to have gone the opposite way and put pen to paper on new terms with WWE.
A report by Wrestling Inc states Flair’s previous deal expired in December 2019. He had appeared on WWE TV last month via a video message to commemorate former Evolution colleague Triple H’s 25th anniversary in the business.
Flair is of course the father of current NXT Women’s champion Charlotte.
