Report: WWE “Working On” Signing Independent Star ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey

'Speedball' Mike Bailey

WWE are interested in signing Canadian wrestler “Speedball” Mike Bailey, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter:

The 15-year veteran, who debuted in 2006, is a standout of the independent wrestling scene. Bailey is a versatile competitor and a taekwondo black-belt, known for his energetic striking offense. He has competed internationally for promotions such as PROGRESS, wXw, CZW, DDT an perhaps most notably, PWG. He last wrestled in September 2020.

There had been speculation that Bailey would soon appear in AEW. His partner, Veda Scott, worked as an announcer on AEW Dark last summer. Current AEW World Champion, Kenny Omega, also expressed a desire to work with Bailey again. Bailey was coy about his options earlier this year however:

Of course there’s a lot of pros to AEW and there’s a lot of pros to NXT. There’s also a lot of pros to Ring of Honor.

Nonetheless, it looks like WWE could be his next destination. Following a successful 2015, the Quebec native was handed a five-year ban that prevented him from entering the United States after travelling for an EVOLVE show without a work visa. Regardless, the ban has now expired. This has opened up possibilities for WWE to work on resolving Bailey’s existing Visa issues in order to sign him to a contract.
