Less than a week away from WWE SummerSlam, there is speculation that one of the marquee matches for the showpiece event may not happen.

At the event set to take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, Bianca Belair is scheduled to defend the SmackDown Women’s Championship against the recently returned Sasha Banks.

However, there are concerns that this match may now not take place after the pair missed a number of live events over the weekend.

This is backed up by Mike Johnson of Pro Wrestling Insider, who has said that “several sources” within WWE have “expressed concern” about the match happening.

The duo firstly missed a show in Charlotte, North Carolina on August 14, then also did not appear in Columbia, South Carolina a day later.

The reasoning given for this lack of appearance was due to “unforeseen circumstances” and there has been no official statement on the matter, which only helps to add fuel to the fire.

Sasha Banks returned to WWE television earlier this month when she came to the aid of Belair after an attack from Carmella.

It didn’t take long for Banks to turn on the current SmackDown Women’s Champion, setting up the match which we still hope takes place at SummerSlam.
