It would seem that an attack from former tag team partner Shayna Baszler is set to keep Nia Jax off WWE television for the foreseeable future.
Jax and Baszler had been working together in WWE since August 2020, and defeated Sasha Banks and Bayley for the Women’s Tag Team Championships at Payback of that year. Eventually losing the titles to the unlikely team of Charlotte Flair and Asuka in December, they went on to reclaim the gold at the 2021 Royal Rumble. They went on to again lose the titles, this time to Tamina and Natalya, on SmackDown five months later.
With unease between the pair, they ended up facing each other on Monday Night Raw on 20th September, where ‘The Queen Of Spades’ won the contest but Baszler wasn’t willing to let things go after the match, as she launched a brutal attack.
It is now being reported by Mike Johnson of PWInsider that the attack may be part of something wider, with ‘The Irresistible Force’ now set for an extended time off television. Despite this fact, Jax was part of this year’s supplemental Draft where she will remain a member of the Raw roster.
With what is being described as Jax potentially “taking an extended period of time off”, it would be a break for the star who has worked for WWE since 2014. Originally joining as part of NXT, Jax went up to the main roster at the time as part of the 2016 Draft. She ended up feuding with Alexa Bliss, which culminated in a match for the Raw Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 37. Jax managed to take the belt away from Bliss that night, in what is her only reign of that title so far.
