NXT TakeOver 31 takes place next Sunday, 4th October, and the card is starting to take shape. The latest match announced will see Velveteen Dream face his rival KUSHIDA.
The two have been at loggerheads since Dream returned to NXT in August. Just this past week, KUSHIDA was eliminated from the NXT Gauntlet Eliminator after Dream’ interference. This ended the former Timesplitter’s chances of becoming number one contender for the NXT Title.
Now it has been announced by WWE on Twitter that the two will meet at TakeOver to bring their rivalry to a head.
Remarkably, this will mark the TakeOver debut of KUSHIDA, who has been part of NXT for almost 18 months. It will also signify whether the apparent heel turn for Velveteen Dream will carry through, or whether the change is just an attempt to add an edge to his character.
NXT TakeOver 31 takes place on Sunday October 4th and will be broadcast on the WWE Network.
The current card is as follows:
- NXT Championship: Finn Balor vs. Kyle O’Reilly
- NXT Women’s Championship: Io Sharai vs. Candice LeRae
- North American Championship: Damian Priest vs. Johnny Gargano
- KUSHIDA vs. Velveteen Dream
