Kurt Angle has had high praise for many of his colleagues of late, but recently singled out Christian Cage for special praise.
Speaking on a recent edition of The Kurt Angle Show, the Olympic gold medallist spent time reminiscing on working with Cage, Edge and Ryno, and then singled out Cage as being underrated and underappreciated.
Every once in a while we touch base. He’s such a good guy. We were best friends, you know, Edge, Christian, myself, and Rhyno. We really were best friends. We spent a lot of time together and that time was so valuable. I’ll never forget what he did for me. What he did for the business. Christian is one of the most underrated professional wrestlers of all time. This guy should actually already be in the Hall of Fame. That’s how good he was and, I don’t know, I mean, I think someday he will be. I just think that he’s been underappreciated.
Christian Cage won the IMPACT Wrestling Championship for the first time ever on the first edition of AEW Rampage. He defeated ‘The Cleaner’ Kenny Omega, to also take the TNA title from him as part of it.
This kind of success hasn’t been lost on Angle, who says Cage could be considered the greatest of all time.
He could have very well been the best professional wrestler of all time. That’s how good he was. He was creative putting the matches together. His timing was impeccable. He was one of the absolute best I’ve ever worked with.
Cage could also be set to add more gold to his collection in the near future, as he challenges Omega again at All Out on September 5, this time for the AEW World Championship.
