The game continues to change in the world of professional wrestling.

In a press release, Impact confirmed a big detail for Saturday’s Sacrifice main event – followed by an even bigger bombshell that will involve the winner:

IMPACT Wrestling executive Scott D’Amore made a pair of rapid-fire announcements March 9 on IMPACT! ON AXS TV that sent shockwaves around the wrestling world. D’Amore informed the bitter rivals that their main event match at SACRIFICE would not only unify the IMPACT and TNA World Championships – but the winner would go on to face All Elite Wrestling World Champion Kenny Omega in a mind-blowing title vs. title fight at the  REBELLION PPV on April 24.

Just a few months after fighting on the same team against AEW World champion Kenny Omega & the Impact Tag Team champions The Good Brothers at Hard to Kill, Moose will take on Rich Swann in what could be Swann’s biggest challenge to date.

For years, Moose has recognised himself as a legitimate World champion in IMPACT. In that time, the underdog Rich Swann has toppled the entire Impact Wrestling roster to sit at its top as the IMPACT World champion. This Saturday, we will finally learn who the TRUE world champion of IMPACT Wrestling really is. D’Amore added:

“These two athletes hate each other, yet one of them has the chance to cost the other the greatest opportunity of their career. Bad blood, arguably the two greatest wrestlers in IMPACT going at it, title vs. title, and the chance to make wrestling history … there’s not enough hyperbole to do justice to Saturday’s main event.”

Arguably even bigger news however, is what the winner of Saturday’s main event will then go on to face; a second Title vs. Title match, this time across the two promotions. Cross-brand Title vs. Title matches are a real rarity in professional wrestling. This announcement and the action in the weeks to follow change the landscape completely. D’Amore continued:

“It is hard to describe the magnitude of the opportunity Rich Swann and Moose have this Saturday. In just six short weeks, one of them will not only unify the IMPACT and TNA World Championships, but also go into a once-in-a-generation showdown where they’ll have the chance to become the reigning champion of two of the most prestigious organizations in the sport. It isn’t hyperbole to say Rich Swann and Moose are fighting for their shot at wrestling immortality this Saturday night.”

At this stage, one has to wonder how Omega’s longtime friend and advisor, Don Callis, might involve himself in these matchups. Callis, of course, is IMPACT Wrestling’s co-executive vice president alongside Scott D’Amore.

The next few months will be very intriguing indeed, as this situation continues to unfold…

SACRIFICE streams on IMPACT PLUS this Saturday, March 13, starting at 8pm ET/ 5pm PT; 01:00AM UK time. The stacked supercard is also avail as a standalone Pay-Per-View on FITE TV.
