A short vignette aired last night on Impact Wrestling that suggested a number of talents formerly with the promotion may well be making their way back in time for Slammiversary in July.

The clip started with a hoodie clad figure (similar in look and framing on the screen to the Smackdown hacker) watching a news report about 20 wrestlers being released from their contracts whilst sipping whiskey.

The reporter delivering the news wished the talents the best in their future endeavours before the screen flashed to a number of very short clips of a number of wrestlers from their Impact Wrestling days including Spud, EC3, Luke Gallows and Mike and Maria Kanellis as well as Karl Anderson and Curt Hawkins.

Also seen in the clip was a Bulgarian flag. An obvious nod to Rusev who was amongst the group of wrestlers released by WWE in April that also included Karl Anderson, Heath Slater and many others.

The talent released on April 15th were expected to have the standard 90 day non-compete clauses which would expire directly before the Slammiversary PPV on Sunday July 18th.

It was a smart tease by Impact. While it would be far fetched to believe they will secure all of the talents that were in the clip, they clearly have a plan that will see a new injection of talent come into the promotion that finally has a positive future after moving their flagship programme to AXS TV in the US late last year.
