When is a surprise not a surprise?
How about when the team formerly known as The Revival debut on AEW Dynamite?
Regardless of whether or not it was expected, it was still a fantastic moment. Now all the silliness about names, t-shirts and gimmick infringement is done and dusted, Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood made their first appearances since leaving WWE.
This angle was part of a huge night on Dynamite that ended with a huge brawl between Mike Tyson and Chris Jericho that had the eyes of the sports world on AEW for the first time.
The set up was a match that saw The Young Bucks and Matt Hardy face Private Party and Joey Janela in the first match of the night.
After the match, The Butcher & The Blade hit the ring to attack the Bucks. Before long, the camera cut to an old time pick-up truck pulling up at Daily’s Place with a double denim clad Harwood and Wheeler jumping out and heading to the ring to join in the fun.
Instead of the obvious attack on Matt & Nick Jackson, FTR laid into The Butcher and The Blade, sending them packing.
It looks like we are getting a slow build towards a tag team feud that has been considered a modern dream match by many and could legitimately headline an AEW PPV down the line.
The AEW tag team division just took a huge step forward and maybe now we can start getting used to the FTR name.
