The main event segment on SmackDown this week served as final hype for Sunday’s Royal Rumble PPV.

It saw a singles match between AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan continuously added to as new wrestlers made their way out, Royal Rumble style, until we were eventually left with a match pitting Bryan, Shinsuke Nakamura, Big E, Otis and Sheamus against Styles, Cesaro, Sami Zayn, The Miz and John Morrison.

You will note that the match was peppered with Raw superstars, which was explained away by the return of WWE’s cross brand invitational for the evening.

The babyfaces won the match and after they did there was room for one more Raw guest to make his presence felt…

Braun Strowman made his return to WWE after a month long storyline suspension and took out the entire heel team, standing tall with the programme ending and Michael Cole speculating that Strowman will be entered into the Royal Rumble now his suspension has been lifted.

If you’ve been watching WWE for more than three weeks you’ll know this speculation from Cole is shorthand for saying he is, indeed, in the match.

The Royal Rumble goes down on Sunday January 31st and all the info on the event can be found here.

Hooked On Wrestling will also be running a free to enter Royal Rumble Quiz night starting at 8PM on Sunday. It is free to enter and you can get all the details here.
