Major League Wrestling (MLW) sent out a press release today to announce the signing of former Ring Of Honor World Champion Davey Richards.
Richards has not wrestled since 2017 and was thought to be retired until he announced in March this year that he would be appearing for Global Syndicate Wrestling in a match that takes place this weekend.
Richards has been signed exclusively to MLW as part of their 2021 Open Draft and will debut at the old ECW Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 10th.
Other talents announced as resigning with the company as part of the Open Draft include Ross Von Erich, Marshall Von Erich, King Muertes and Gino Medina.
Richards, also a five time TNA/Impact Wrestling tag team champion alongside Eddie Edwards had previously stated that knee injuries had curtailed his wrestling career and led to him retraining as a paramedic.
Of the signing, MLW Founder & CEO Court Bauer said the following:
“Davey isn’t just a world class workhorse, he’s a beast, one that’s going to instantly change the dimension of the in-ring product in MLW. I have a tremendous amount of respect for Davey, he’s been one of my favourites to watch for over a decade and I’m happy to welcome him to our newly expanded roster.”
Richards’ opponent for his MLW debut has not yet been named.
