Former WWE Superstar Christian (Jay Reso) this week appeared on the Wrestling Inc podcast to discuss the release of the movie Cagefighter, which premieres tomorrow, Saturday 16th May, exclusively on FITE.TV.

The man once known as Captain Charisma stars in and produces the movie which also stars AEW World champion Jon Moxley and UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell.

During the course of the conversation, talk turned to Christian’s retirement. Unlike contemporaries such as Daniel Bryan and his on-screen brother, Edge, Reso did not announce his injury related retirement on TV.

Instead, he just stopped wrestling due to the effects of multiple concussions suffered during his years in the ring. Also unlike Bryan and Edge, Reso will not be making a comeback to wrestling any time soon. He said on the podcast:

It’s a much different injury. I get that a lot now that [Edge] has come back, ‘Oh, you’re next, right?’ No, because it’s a different injury,” revealed Christian. “When I was younger maybe I would have explored it a bit more, but I’m not. I’m pretty content with where I’m at and the things I’m doing. People ask me and I keep telling them that there is zero chance I will be back in the ring wrestling.

That seems fairly conclusive. It’s a shame for us as fans that we won’t get one last chance to say goodbye to Christian as an in ring competitor but he sounds pretty contented with his career and so he should be.

His storied career included reigns as Tag Team, European, Intercontinental and even World Heavyweight champion as well as being involved in a plethora of huge moments and matches during his 16 years with WWE and TNA.

There is no doubt that Christian will one day be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and until then, you can catch him on a regular basis as a contributor on WWE Backstage.

Cagefighter is available from Saturday 16th May on FITE.TV
