Big Show Returns To Battle Giant Ninja (Yes, Really) On Action Packed WWE Raw

Last night’s Raw felt like a throwback to 2001. Maybe not in terms of star power and quality but certainly in terms of action. It felt like so much happened over the three hour run time that it is hard to recap it all.

Highlights including the return of Christian for his first match back in six years; Dominick Mysterio getting physical with Seth Rollins; a show-long plotline of R-Truth teaming with Drew McIntyre and accidentally putting his partner’s WWE title in jeopardy along the way; The Iiconics seemingly turning face, Lashley dumping Lana; Lana seemingly forming an alliance with Natalya; The Viking Raiders and Street Profits forming a super-team and then setting a match with each other for next week; MVP attempting to recruit Apollo Crews; Zelina Vega losing patience with both Andrade and Angel Garza; Ric Flair returning and Asuka and Apollo Crews retaining their respective titles.

I did say it was a lot!

One thing not mentioned above though was surely the highlight of Raw. It was a throwback of another type. This time not to Raw but instead to Monday Nitro circa 1995 as The Big Show made his first WWE appearance since the night after WrestleMania to offer counsel to Christian and…to do battle with a giant ninja!

Yes, that’s right. Akira Tozawa’s huge henchman, who made his debut amidst the rampant fever dream that was Backlash, showed up on Raw to attempt to attack The Viking Raiders and The Street Profits.

Thankfully for the two tag teams, The Big Show surprisingly made the save and took down the 7 foot plus, masked, samurai sword wielding newbie.

It was pure Dungeon Of Doom style madness.

If WWE are planning to inject a small dose of this retro-syle silliness into their shows going forward, we are all forward. After all, wrestling is at its best when there is something for everyone on the card. And this is certainly…different.

We eagerly await the next move of Tozawa’s ninja-biker clan.
