Reggie Breaks WWE Title Record

There is no shortage of champions in WWE but one of the WWE Superstars currently holding gold broke a record following the Extreme Rules pay-per-view.

The WWE 24/7 Championship has led a chequered existence since being unveiled by Mick Foley on RAW in May 2019. WWE Hall Of Famers Pat Patterson, Gerald Brisco, Ted DiBiase, and Alundra Blayze have all held the belt along with stars of today such as Jinder Mahal, Shelton Benjamin, and of course, R-Truth all holding the title. Stars from the world of music have also held the title as Marshmello and WrestleMania stand out Bad Bunny have both been WWE 24/7 Champion as has Super Bowl winner Rob Gronkowski.

With dozens of different champions and almost 150 individual reigns to date, the frenetic nature of the title means it never stays in situ for very long. Following the Extreme Rules pay-per-view, the current WWE 24/7 Champion has made history as the longest-reigning title holder after keeping hold of the title for over seventy days.

Reggie faced Ricochet on RAW this week to defend the Championship, and after an athletic and acrobatic battle with The One And Only, he was able to retain the title.

Reggie also holds another, slightly odd record: he’s the only WWE Superstar to hold the Championship under two different names within the same reign, having dropped the “Reginald” moniker he’d used as Carmella’s sommelier upon his debut. Reggie has since collaborated with Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler, as well as wrestling ‘The Boss’ Sasha Banks on SmackDown.
