NXT will participate in the upcoming WWE Draft, which will take place in the first week of October, according to a new report.
NXT has recently been transformed into the bright and colourful NXT 2.0, with newcomers such as Bron Breakker and Von Wagner featured on the roster. Former black and gold brand stalwart Tommaso Ciampa recently reclaimed the NXT Championship after former champion Samoa Joe was forced to relinquish the belt. However, it appears that the brand’s roster could be different in a few short weeks.
Andrew Zarian, the man who broke the news of the WWE Draft plans and dates, has taken to social media to speculate on NXT’s participation in the Draft.
As RAW and SmackDown prepare to shuffle their decks, the dates for the upcoming WWE Draft have been announced. The WWE Draft will take place on October 1st and 4th this year, as announced on Monday Night RAW.
The event kicks off on SmackDown on October 1st and concludes three days later on RAW. After being postponed from September, Zarian reported that the draft would be rescheduled for these dates.
For the third year in a row, the WWE Draft will be held in October, with last year’s event taking place on October 9th and 12th. The New Day split during that year’s draft, with Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods going to RAW and Big E staying on SmackDown. The team, however, has temporarily reunited on RAW. The question is whether this will continue to be the case.
The draft began in 2002, after the first brand split, when Vince McMahon took over SmackDown, leaving Ric Flair in charge of the company’s flagship show. McMahon’s first pick in the draft in WWE history was The Rock for the blue brand, much to The Undertaker’s frustration, who was then drafted to RAW by his then-enemy, Flair.
