WWE SmackDown SuperShow came from Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York. On the show we saw Lesnar demand a match with Reigns, a WrestleMania rematch, and the return of The Demon:
Lesnar stepped up to Reigns to open the show
WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos (along with Paul Heyman) started this week’s show with Reigns telling Madison Square Garden that the Tribal Chief runs NYC. This brought out Brock Lesnar to confront the Bloodline and when he’d entered the ring he asked Heyman why he hadn’t told Reigns he’d be at SummerSlam as Roman looked on, annoyed. Heyman pleaded and said he didn’t know as Reigns and the Usos left the ring. Lesnar told Heyman he was challenging Reigns for the Universal Title, then Brock got Heyman up ready for an F5, but a Superman Punch from Roman saved him. Jimmy and Jey hit the Beast with superkicks but were met with a huge double clothesline and a German suplex apiece as Reigns seethed on the ramp.
Big E gets the win for his team, maybe going to Raw?
A 10-man tag team match took place where Sami Zayn, Robert Roode, Dolph Ziggler, Otis and Apollo Crews went up against WWE Intercontinental Champion King Nakamura, Rick Boogs, Big E, plus Rey and Dominik Mysterio. Big E pinned Zayn after hitting him with the Big Ending and after the match was asked by Kayla Braxton if he knew what title he would be going after with his Money in the Bank contract. Big E said he might show up on Raw next week, but it could be any night because if you have what he needs, you will feel his power.
Championship contract signing ends without much drama (for a change!)
Bianca Belair signed the contract for her WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship match before Becky Lynch even came to the ring. The Man came out wearing a huge red coat and sunglasses, and had to be asked multiple times by Belair, Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville to sign on the line. Eventually Lynch signed the contract and after she threw it at The EST, and left the ring with the title held high.
Edge stretchered out of the building
In a WrestleMania rematch, The Rated R Superstar Edge took on Seth Freakin’ Rollins. It was back and forth all the way through the bout with each man getting close falls and rope escapes but the end of the match was the result of a low-blow. Rollins kicked Edge between the legs without the referee seeing and this was followed by one, two, THREE superkicks to Edge’s head and then a huge Curb Stomp to finish Edge. Two EMTs got Edge on a stretcher and then loaded him into an ambulance as Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville closed the doors.
Reigns confronted by The Demon
The Usos defended the SmackDown Tag Team Titles against The Street Profits, and the match was closer than The Bloodline wanted. After Montez Ford launched himself to the outside of the ring and took out both champs, Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman made their way to ringside to keep a closer eye on the match. The Street Profits were looking too good for the Tribal Chief and he made his presence known by jumping in the ring, putting the Guillotine on Ford, and getting the Usos disqualified. After he let go Reigns got on the mic and announced that if Brock Lesnar wants it, he can get it, and that he’s going to smash Lesnar as soon as he’s done smashing Finn Balor. The lights went out and The Demon came out. Balor stared down Roman as SmackDown went off the air.
