The first WWE show following SummerSlam took place in the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California. As well as Riddle beating A.J. Styles, we saw Alexa Bliss eye up new Raw Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair, and Rhea Ripley pin Shayna Baszler. But mainly:

Champion vs. Champion match opens the show

Bobby Lashley and MVP were in the ring and called Goldberg and his son (!) cowards. Damian Priest interrupted to challenge Lashley to a match. In the match ‘The Almighty’ took charge before Priest rallied a comeback which was cut short when Sheamus interrupted, attacked Priest and got Lashley disqualified. The WWE Champion and Sheamus double teamed Damian until the save was made by Drew McIntyre. Leading to:

Lashley and Sheamus vs. Priest and McIntyre

Holla, we got a Tag Team match! Sheamus and Lashley were tagging in and out and taking it in turns to unload on Priest, until eventually McIntyre got the hot tag. The end of the match came about after Sheamus hit White Noise on the Scotsman and was left in shock after McIntyre kicked out. Then Drew knocked Sheamus down with a huge Claymore Kick to get the pin.

Doudrop gets dropped

Following a recap of last week’s events between Eva Maria and Doudrop, both wrestlers were seen backstage discussing the happenings. Doudrop told Marie that the “next time she sees her she’ll take care of her” but Eva attacked Doudrop leaving her on the floor and the partnership was finished.

Drip Drip gets dropped

A distraction by John Morrison didn’t work out as planned when The Miz took on Xavier Woods. Instead the referee’s attention was taken away long enough for Woods to counter into a rollup and he snatched the win. After the match Miz attacked Johnny Drip Drip and finished him off with the Skull Crushing Finale as the crowd’s boos echoed around the arena.
