WWE NXT 2.0 was held at the Capitol Wrestling Center at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. As well as Elektra Lopez overcoming B-Fab in a no-disqualification match and Mei Ying using green mist to help Boa defeated Andre Chase, we saw:
Xyon Quinn picked up biggest victory to date
Roderick Strong retained Cruiserweight belt
On a night of title retention, Roderick Strong was able to keep hold of the NXT Cruiserweight Championship when he defended against Grayson Waller. With The Diamond Mine watching on from ringside, there was plenty of concern on their faces given how many close pinfalls Waller was able to get. However, the staying power of the title holder shone through as he was able to hit a running knee for the pin.
Joe Gacy spoke on behalf of “the enlightened ones”
One of the stars to recently make the move from the independent wrestling scene to NXT, Joe Gacy is using his words rather than his fists to make an impact. Dropping plenty of buzzwords and claiming to speak the language of a generation, Gacy made a point that last week he made more of an impact than many of the top names without throwing a punch. He also claimed “NXT is still our safe space”, as well as that nobody understands what is truly going on except “the enlightened ones”, but they will be the ones to help us usher the world in to a new normal. We shall see.
O’Reilly got backup against Dunne and Holland
It was a classic power vs. speed battle between Ridge Holland and Kyle O’Reilly, with the former Undisputed Era member being able to pick up the win with a quick rollup. That didn’t mean the action was over, as Pete Dunne joined Holland in an attack on O’Reilly. This brought out Von Wagner to even up the numbers and give O’Reilly someone else on the roster he can rely on.
Gonzalez defended, but Toxic Attraction left mark
Both the singles and tag team belts were on the line in the NXT women’s division. First up were Io Shirai and Zoey Stark defending their gold against the Toxic Attraction combination of Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne. This was another successful defence on the show, as Shirai hit a moonsault on Jayne for the win. In the evening’s main event, Raquel Gonzalez also managed to keep hold of the NXT Women’s Championship in a match against Franky Monet. Toxic Attraction would return to the ring after the match, with the trio beating down both competitors leaving Mandy Rose standing tall with the title belt to end the show.
